Karnataka Formation Day is known to me and you as Kannada Rajyotsava or Karnataka Rajyotsava Day which is celebrated every year on 1st of November. This was the historic day in 1956 when the state of Karnataka was formed.
Not only in India but this festival is also celebrated all over the world by Kannadigas. 1st November every year is announced as a government holiday in the state.
Kannada Rajyotsava: Celebrations
The Kannada Rajyotsava day is celebrated with great joy and happiness all over the Karnataka state. All the Kannadigas red and yellow-colored clothes signifies the flag of Karnataka.
Kannadigas gather at different locations and the red-yellow Kannada flags are hosted and the anthem (“Jaya Bharatha Jananiya Tanujate”) is sung.
The ‘Rajyotsava Awards’ are also given out by the State Government on this day to the people who have sacrificed and made prominent contributions favoring the development of Karnataka.
The Rajyotsava awards are proudly delivered to people in fields pasturing from literature, Bayalata, education, journalism, environment, medicine, sculpture, painting, folk art, theatre, music, sports, yoga, films, television, social service, agriculture, Yakshagana to judiciary.
Best Places to Visit To Celebrate The Kannada Rajyotsava
The Capital City of Karnataka is Bengaluru, which is the haven in Karnataka to celebrate the festival. There are Many many tourist destinations in the city such as Lal Bagh, Botanical gardens, Bangalore Palace etc.
The most frequently visited places in the city of Bangalore are wonderfully decorated with colorful flowers to attract the people on the festival day.
Some Other destinations such as Belgaum, Hubli, Davangere, and Mysore also host the Special Event & Programs To Celebrate the festival
History of Kannada Rajyotsava
The man behind the unification of the state is Aluru Venkata Rao, who dreamt to unite the Kannadigas in 1905 with this movement so-called Karnataka Ekikarana movement.
In India, the states are formed on the basis of language. When India became a republic in 1950 different states and linguistics were formed. One among them was Mysore ( A State in South India )
The state of Mysore was formed in the same year 1956, by the combination of all Kannada speaking population in South India. Later it was perceived as Karnataka on 1 November 1973 with Devraj Arasu as the honorable Chief Minister.

Karnataka is a state located in southwest India having coastlines with the Arabian Sea. Karnataka is the eighth-largest state with a population of over 60 million ( 600 lac ) people, and the sixth-largest state in the country by area.
The state includes some of the most beautiful holiday destinations in the World

Chikmagalur: that makes Karnataka the highest producer of coffee in India.
The state also shows its royal history with foregoing capital Mysore (renamed as Mysuru).
